The Art of Mindfulness

  • This year you’re going to wake up to your life. Not the life that’s waiting for you some where “out there” when you’re skinnier, smarter and have more money in the bank…but the life you have right now. This life.

This year you’re going to discover that having the good life is simple when you savor the one you have.

We invite you to join us for an all day retreat with Zen Buddhist Priest Karen Maezen Miller on September 10th, 2011 in Houston, Texas.

Agenda for The Art of Mindfulness – September 10th, 2011*
9:00 AM Good Morning: Enjoy fresh squeezed orange, apple or carrot juice along with one of our signature pastries. Or visit the Coffee & Tea Bar for a delightful pick me up.
9:30 AM Waking Up: Karen Maezen Miller invites you to wake up to your life through beginning meditation, ordinary wisdom and the easy movements of breath and body.

Maezen will explore surprisingly simple answers to profound questions of time, love, work, balance and fulfillment:

“Where do you invest your time, your life, and your love, knowing that whatever you pay attention to thrives?”

“Do you suppose we chase after commitment from another because we fail to commit to ourselves and our life as it is?”

“Can we really find happiness by letting go of what we know of ourselves?”

“What is the point of meditation?”

“How do I find what I’m looking for?”

12:30 PM LUNCH: A hot buffet lunch including salad and bread will be served.  Vegetarian options available by request, please let us know upon registration.
1:30 PM Authentic Living: As Karen Maezen Miller says, “Authenticity is not something you can learn.  It’s something you practice.” You’ll learn how to practice changing your perspective, so that you can recognize what really matters and accomplish the everyday things that bring fulfillment to your life.

“Change your perspective, and the most ordinary things take on inexpressible beauty”.

4:30 PM Taking the Next Step: We’ve come to the end, or rather the beginning. You’re now ready to take your next step. Final questions and a benediction for trusting the life that lies before you.
